We Americans are so protective of our property rights yet as far as I can tell none of us actually own any property at all.
To explain:
We buy the house and then we begin to pay property taxes to government and I always consider taxes on property as "Rent."
The bank owns our property until we pay off the mortgage and then the government assumes ownership and we spend the rest of our lives paying rent in the form of taxes.
Prove to me that we ever really own anything!
